In 1961, he formed the Pan African Peoples Arkestra to pursue Afro-American music, and later founded the Union of God's Musicians and Artists Ascension, an organisation that supports musicians, working with Arthur Blythe, David Murray and many other musicians. This album features recorded material from a 1981 show at the Lobero Theatre in California with Roberto Miranda (b) and Sonship (per) as a trio. The album features a blues jazz A1 that sublimates early feeling into a contemporary style, Tapscott's moving piano solo A2, and a 21-minute-plus B1 that develops from a fast-moving first half to Sonship's ethnic percussion break. A gem of a performance that immerses you in its sonic world as the time goes by. Highly recommended.
