An album released in 1982 by American pianist Horace Tapscott, who founded the Pan African Peoples Arkestra in 1961 to explore Afro-American music. He later established the Union of God’s Musicians and Artists Ascension, an organization supporting musicians, and collaborated with many artists, including Arthur Blythe and David Murray. This album is the second installment in the Tapscott Sessions series, an 11-title collection recorded between 1982 and 1984. It features deeply moving solo piano performances, including the powerful A1/B1 tracks, which narrate the Afro-American struggle over a total of 30 minutes, and B2, a composition by Carmel Crunk, a composer who contributed several pieces to Tapscott’s repertoire. Highly recommended.
A1: Struggle X - An Afro-American Dream
B2: Many Nights Ago
