This album was released in 1973 by Hozan Yamamoto, a shakuhachi player who has made great achievements not only in the classical arts but also in contemporary activities. He was joined by Shizuo Aoki and Katsuya, who formed Shakuhachi-Sambon-Kai with Hozan, as well as Tadao Sawai (koto) and Hidehiko Satoh (percussion). Sanbon-Kai's A1 is, of course, symbolic of Hozan's aim at the time, to break away from and transcend the classics without denying them, and it expresses his own unique expression of nature. In addition, you can listen to the entire piece, which is a study of sound that does not make you aware of its superb technique. This is the 2nd pressing and a list price of 2,200 yen.
