This album was introduced in the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION. Thiis the first-ever reissue of the second album by Interiors, a group that debuted with Interior in 1982 under Haruomi Hosono's Yen label. Released in 1987 by the American new age specialist label Windham Records, this work features the duo of Daisuke Hinata and Eiki Nonaka. Departing from the cool new wave aesthetic showcased in their first album, this masterpiece evolves into highly transparent, organic, and natural electronic music. With clear guitar sounds reminiscent of Manuel Göttsching of the same era and a nature-inspired new age sensibility evocative of eternal river flows, the album achieves an extraordinary level of refinement. Highly recommended.

For this reissue, Chee Shimizu wrote the liner notes. The sound quality has been updated to be modern and warm while preserving the original atmosphere, making it an enjoyable experience even for those who own the original release.

< Comments on the Reissue >

This group, with its orderly and refined yet somewhat mysterious name reminiscent of Erik Satie's "Furniture Music," is once again receiving attention for the works it left behind in the 1980s. This renewed spotlight is highly significant, even apart from the recent global resurgence of ambient and new-age music. It presents a perfect opportunity to fully experience the music of this group, a true anomaly in the Japanese music scene of the 1980s.

Chee Shimizu

Interior's releases fused technology and sophistication in a manner that is still relevant today - music that glides gracefully into a still-forthcoming future. By transcending the typical dynamics of the jazz or rock ensemble, they arrived at a vaporous sound that comfortably dissipated into the contours of home listening.
