International Jazz Consensus
Beak to Beak
Nabel Jazz (Germany) 1981
Nbl 8102 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(some wear on edge and corner, light dirts.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise)

The sole album by International Jazz Consensus, a one-off group formed by a superb cast of players including Adelhard Roidinger on bass—known for his acclaimed work with Yosuke Yamashita as well as a string of outstanding ECM dates—alongside Joe Thomas on guitar, Allan Praskin on sax, and Lala Lovacev on drums, released in 1981. All pieces are member-penned originals. Rooted in hard bop and post-bop, the set is elevated by flashes of sharp wit and subtle invention throughout. Standouts include A1, driven by Roidinger’s grooving theme work, and the particularly superb B2, a deep, atmospheric cut that unfolds with real dynamic shape, moving into spiritual and ethnic territory with great effect. Highly recommended.

A1: Happy Frog
B2: Love Song
