An album released in 1979 by Irakere, the legendary Afro-Cuban jazz group led by Chucho Valdés, with members including Arturo Sandoval, Carlos Emilio Morales, and Oscar Valdés. The album features a spiritual and uplifting track on A1, driven by vibrant percussion beats, as well as a groovy Latin jazz track on B1, where energetic solos from piano and horns are seamlessly passed from one to another. It’s a masterpiece of Afro-Cuban jazz that blends cool, dynamic jazz with the fiery and primal feeling of Latin rhythms. A2, with its mellow electric piano that sways beautifully, is another standout. This JVC pressing stands out for its superior sound quality compared to the Cuban, US, and European editions.
A1: Chekere Son
B1: La Semilla
