A signature 1986 album by Isabelle Antena, the iconic Belgian female singer. Highlights include A1, a languid bossa track that makes extensive use of electronics, and A3, an urban beachside dancer filled with a mellow, breezy atmosphere. While the album clearly extends the sound of Camino Del Sol, the first mini-album released under the Antena name in 1982, it also incorporates a strong modern R&B flavor that seems to reflect the influence of Sade, who had already become one of the defining acts of the era. The result is a beautifully refined form of ’80s contemporary pop. I first heard this album when it came out, and even after more than 30 years it still sounds remarkably fresh. It also fits perfectly with what would now be described as Balearic or city pop. B2 and B3 in particular sound surprisingly contemporary even today. Every track is excellent.
