This is an album released in 1981, featuring pianist Izumi Shimura performing the piano works of the Japanese composer Mitsu Hayashi. Mitsu Hayashi, a prolific Japanese composer who awakened to composition during his youth and gained recognition with his 1950 composition "Atomic Bomb Scenery," went on to create a vast number of works, ranging from orchestral compositions to film music. The recording for this album took place in June of the same year at the Funabashi Civic Culture Hall in Chiba, Japan, and it was recorded and produced by Koho Ojima, the owner of ALM Records. Many of the compositions on this album were originally created for stage plays and have been arranged for solo piano. With the exception of one piece, each composition is titled with a month of the year, evoking the tranquility and memories of each season. The gentle and soothing performances are truly remarkable. Additionally, the album includes a variation of an Okinawan folk song in track B4, which subtly evokes nostalgia with its pentatonic scale. This album was featured in the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION" as part of a Tower Records special leaflet. Please note that a booklet is not included.
