This is an album released in 1982 by the group led by American jazz drummer Jack DeJohnette, known for his work in sessions with artists like Miles Davis and Keith Jarrett, and for his numerous acclaimed works on ECM records. The group, Jack DeJohnette's Special Edition, includes Chico Freeman (ts, fl, b-cl), John Purcell (as, bs, fl), and Peter Warren (b). The album begins with a mysterious interplay of flutes by Freeman and Purcell, setting an intriguing tone. The smooth and elegant ensemble in track A2 is a delightful listening experience, while the dynamic beats of congas and timpani, accompanied by psychedelic organ, create an Afro-spiritual jazz atmosphere in track B2. Recommended.
A2: Pastel Rhapsody
B2: The Gri Gri Man
