An album released in 1972 by American organist Jack McDuff, who began his career in the 1950s, led groups in the 1960s with Harold Vick, Joe Dukes, and a young George Benson, and in the late 1970s produced numerous funky recordings that made full use of synthesizers. This two-LP compilation gathers choice selections from the albums McDuff released on Prestige. From soul jazz overflowing with gospel and blues feeling to Latin jazz, jive, and his signature funky jazz, it’s an outstanding set that lets you enjoy McDuff’s organ playing to the fullest.
