This is an album released in 1968 by Jaki Byard, an American pianist who made his debut in the late 40's and worked with Charlie Mariano, Maynard Ferguson, and Charles Mingus, and left many masterpieces for Prestige label from the 60's onward. The trio with David Izenton (b) and Elvin Jones (ds). The album features Byard's signature tunes, such as B1, a soulful rendition of a standard number that is said to be the origin of the blues progression, and B2, a free-form post-bop tune with Byard's unique playing style and fluid soul jazz that combines groove and elegance. This is a reissue of the 1972 US release.
