An album released in 1977 by the American flutist James Newton, known for his collaborations with numerous renowned players such as Herbie Hancock, Sam Rivers, and Anthony Davis, as well as his solo works with a leaning towards New Age. This album features a quartet with Anthony Davis on piano, Abdul Wadud on cello, and Phillip Wilson on drums. While it belongs to the Free Jazz era, tracks like A2, seemingly featuring overdubbed flute by Newton himself, and the piano-flute duo B3 with Davis, showcase Newton's flute tones and melodies already possessing an organic sensibility, offering a glimpse of the prelude to his later New Age-oriented style. This album stands as a brilliant performance.
