Album released in 1980 by American flutist James Newton, who has recorded with many great players such as Herbie Hancock, Sam Rivers and Anthony Davis, as well as many New Age-leaning solo works of his own. Wind quintet featuring Red Callender (tuba), John Carter (clarinet), John Nunez (bassoon) and Charles Owens (oboe, English horn). Side A is a nine-part suite of memories of Dr. Howard Swanson, with a wonderful chamber music-like appearance, layering lyrical melodies in a calm atmosphere. B2 is a chamber music-like ensemble with a similar narrative feel. Even if you like contemporary music, you should give this one a try.
