A 1976 album by a quartet co-led by Norwegian soprano saxophonist Jan Garbarek, one of ECM’s leading artists, and Swedish jazz pianist Bobo Stenson. With fellow Scandinavian musicians Palle Danielsson (b) and Jon Christensen (ds) completing the line-up, the quartet performs a masterpiece of contemporary jazz, layering emotionally resonant melodies with beautifully transparent and delicate touches, as though painting scenes from the natural world.
