Released in 1979, this album is by Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, a musician continually engaged in a journey of self-exploration. He leads a quintet featuring John Taylor on piano, Bill Connors on guitar, Eberhard Weber on bass, and Jon Christensen on drums—musicians who each left behind outstanding works for ECM. The remarkable clarity and spatial presence of every instrumental line, together with the dramatically unfolding arrangements, create a breathtakingly beautiful sonic world throughout. A masterpiece among masterpieces that seems to embody the very essence of the ECM sound. Simply wonderful. Japanese pressing released by Trio Records, with obi and insert.
