An album from Jan Kaspersen, the Danish pianist known for his work with avant-jazz rock group Blue Sun as well as contributions to Fred Israel’s cult Danish ambient record Fashions of Moon. Released in 1989, this trio session features Peter Danstrup (electric bass)—also a member of John Tchicai’s groups and Pierre Dørge’s New Jungle Orchestra—and Ole Rømer (drums). The music pays homage to early jazz and hard bop traditions while weaving in quirky, offbeat ideas that give the album a distinctive edge. Kaspersen’s piano has a light, almost toy-like timbre, lending the record a highly individual and memorable character.
