Marlow on Ten
Private pressing. (US) 1983
Z 2501 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(SRW, WC, some wear on edge and corner.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly noise caused by slightly hairlines.)
An album self-released in 1983 by American guitarist Janet Marlow, who studied alongside Spain’s Narciso Yepes at New York’s Mannes College of Music and left behind only a handful of recordings up through the 1990s. The program features works by leading South American guitarists such as Agustín Barrios Mangoré (Paraguay) and Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil), as well as arrangements of classical pieces by Beethoven and Bach, alongside Marlow’s own original compositions. Especially recommended are A4, an original piece built on multi-tracked 10-string guitar, and B3, a Villa-Lobos composition highlighted by Marlow’s evocative vocals paired with the nostalgic melodies of the 10-string guitar.
A4: Time Alone
B3: Gigue
