Album released in 1954 by American Hammond organist Jimmy Smith, who began his career in the 1950s and established a unique style with his distinctive playing style that greatly influenced future generations. The album features Lee Morgan (tp), Lou Donaldson (as), George Coleman (as), Tina Brooks (ts), Kenny Burrell (g), Eddie McFadden (g), Srt Blakey (ds) and Donald Baily (ds). The three songs are performed by a sextet, quintet and quartet respectively. Blues jazz A1, grooving gently with constant tension, jazz ballad B1 with Morgan's urbane trumpet, and the lightly swinging B2, all excellent. 1966 reissue US release.

A1: The Sermon
B1: Flamingo
