Album released in 1983 by Japanese contemporary musician Jo Kondo, who left over 150 works after his debut in 1968 with Monologue and Five Fragments, featuring Aki Takahashi (p), Kenji Kobayashi (vl), Fumiko Shinozaki (harp), Norio Sato (g) and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. A1 is a work for piano and orchestra, a music of complexes composed of sonic transitions bracketed by brackets. B1 is a work for violin and piano, the third in a series of scores based on Strands that has been performed since 1978. B2 is a unison ensemble for harp and guitar; B3 is a multi-recorded work for eight violins. Both are excellent pieces from a post-ambient perspective, composed of gently progressing single notes and sustained sounds with a hint of minimalist elements. Highly recommended.
