This is the 1976 album featuring pianist Joanne Brackeen, who gained recognition while active in Los Angeles in the late 1950s with Harold Land and Dexter Gordon, later relocating to New York in the early 1960s. Brackeen collaborated with giants such as Freddie McCoy, Art Blakey, Toots Thielemans, and Stan Getz. She also participated in Strata-East projects and, in 1978, released the acclaimed album "Watership Down" with bassist Clint Houston, with whom she had worked. The album showcases Brackeen's piano skills, combining modal and free-form elements, expressing both virtuosity and a sense of melody. Houston's bass, played with extraordinary technique, complements Brackeen's performance beautifully. It's truly a magnificent musical experience.
