An American pianist who served as a vital force behind spiritual jazz greats such as Billy Harper and Pharoah Sanders, while also leaving behind a string of masterpieces under his own name, Joe Bonner released this first solo album in 1975. From pieces driven by torrential keyboard runs to those painted with delicately introspective scenery, the album offers, from start to finish, the kind of dramatic and deeply emotional solo piano performance that stands as Bonner’s true hallmark. Simply superb. A truly essential record, highly and wholeheartedly recommended. This is a Japanese promo pressing issued the same year as the US original, and its clear, crisp, and more present sound is especially impressive compared to the US edition.
