This trio album, released in 1975, features American guitarist John Abercrombie—who has left behind numerous masterpieces on ECM—alongside fellow ECM regulars Dave Holland (bass) and Jack DeJohnette (drums). Jack DeJohnette’s drumming is rich with funkiness, delivering intricate, high-frequency rhythms that still manage to sway with a heavy, laid-back groove. Dave Holland's upright bass provides a restrained yet deeply grooving foundation, while John Abercrombie unleashes a stream of ever-shifting, expressive guitar phrases. Though the album is filled with Abercrombie’s signature edgy, progressive jazz-rock, the listening experience leans more toward funky jazz-rock. It’s seriously cool.
