This is a live recording album of the most important avant-garde musician of the 20th century, John Cage's concert in Stuttgart, Germany in 1975. Sonata XIII", "Music for Marcel Duchamp", and "Song Books I-II / Empty Words III" are included. Sonata XIII" on A1 and "Music for Marcel Duchamp" on A2 are performed on piano by Peter Roggenkamp. "Song Books I-II / Empty Words III" on A3/B1 is voiced by John Cage himself and read by Clytus Gottwald, with chorus by Schola Cantorum. On A3/B1, Cage's cloudy voicings, operatic vocals, occasional mysterious electronic sounds, typewriter's sounds from the left and right sides of the stereo, and "Nichi Nichi and a variable voice that loops endlessly, saying "Nichi Nichi Kore Ko Nichi" in a minimalist way. When you listen to it mindlessly, you are taken to a strange place. A great album.
