YX-8007 (LP) インサート(WC, light dirts.)
sleeve : VG+(SRW, SPSE/TOC: tear and tape on top, SPSE: small crack on side, wear on corner, color-faded.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)
An essential live document from John Coltrane—one of the undeniable giants who soared from the “sheets of sound” era into the heights of spiritual free jazz. This album captures a 1963 concert in Stockholm, Sweden, performed by his classic quartet with McCoy Tyner (p), Jimmy Garrison (b), and Elvin Jones (ds). Side A opens with an aggressive rendition of a piece from his 1959 landmark release Giant Steps. Side B features the tune that opened his 1962 live album Live at the Village Vanguard, as well as a Billy Eckstine composition (B2) that Coltrane reportedly loved to perform. Throughout, you can hear the quartet in its golden age, delivering remarkable, inspired performances. Judging from the reverberation, the music was likely recorded with microphones in a fairly large hall, yet the sound quality is surprisingly solid, making for a comfortable and enjoyable listen.
A1: Mr. PC
B1: Spiritual
