This album, produced by Alice Coltrane and Ed Michel and released in 1971, features session recordings of jazz legend John Coltrane's quartet with McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass), and Elvin Jones (drums), recorded in 1965 at RCA Victor Studio in New York. It marks Coltrane's transition from sheets of sound to spiritual free jazz, representing his deep spiritual inclination during the latter part of his life, alongside recordings found on "Ascension" and "Transition". Tracks like B1/B2, where you can feel the core of spiritual jazz that was later inherited by many musicians including Pharoah Sanders, stand out. This album was reissued in Japan in 1983 as part of Victor's "New Wave of Coltrane Jazz" series.
