Album released in 1985 featuring American pianist John Hicks, who emerged as a member of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in the mid-1960s, with lead player David Murray. In addition to Hicks' original compositions, this is an excellent album of classic tunes by Thelonius Monk and Billy Holiday, played with a light touch. Of particular note is A3, an emotionally rich rendition of 'Naima', one of John Coltrane's best-known songs. This is one of the most pleasant of the many covers of the song.
