This is a collaborative album by John Surman, an English saxophonist who has played with John McLaughlin, Alan Skidmore, Michel Portal, and many other jazz musicians, and has left many masterpieces under his own name, and Stan Tracy, also an English pianist. The duo's improvisation-driven works on saxophone/clarinet and acoustic piano are relaxed and easy to listen to, and the synthesizer pieces by both players are especially superb. The pure arpeggio sound, which foreshadows the many great albums by John Surman to be released in the future, is endlessly pleasing.
