A 1970 album by British saxophone player John Surman, who has produced a number of excellent albums, mainly free but also incorporating synthesisers and other electronics. Recorded live with Barre Phillips (b) and Stu Martin (dr) in Altena, western Germany, in the same year. Surman's performance is overwhelming from start to finish, with Martin's open drumming backed by Phillips' earth-crawling bass and a brazen tone that makes baritone, soprano and bass clarinet sound unrestrained and furious. The final explosion on side B is amazing. This is a German reissue probably in the mid-late 70s.
