Johnny Bokelo, born in the former Belgian Congo, was the main vocalist of the Orchestre Conga Succes led by his brother Paul Ebengo Dewayon in the 60's. In 1968, his song "Nkombi Likembe" became a hit and became popular. The first solo album by Johnny Bokelo was released in 1977. The album is a masterpiece of groovy highlife with double vocals layered with shuffling drums, fat bouncing bass, flowing electric guitar riffs and bright horns in the background. This is a rare piece of music that allows you to enjoy the danceable early soukous under the influence of Afro-beat before it was fused with rumba. It is also interesting to note that there are two tracks, one vocal track and one instrumental track of the same song. Original Kenyan pressing. This is an African pressing, so the quality is not as good as it could be, but it is in good condition with no noticeable scratches.
