This album was released in 1981 by Finnish jazz saxophonist Juhani Aaltonen, whose 1979 album "Springbird" was featured in the guidebook "obscure sound". It is a live recording of a show at The Groovy that same year. With Edward Vesala (drs) and Reggie Workman (b), the trio performed smoky free jazz throughout this masterpiece. Aaltonen's earthy flute and saxophone are great, but the spiritual drumming of Edward Vesala, who has also released excellent work on ECM/JAPO, draws you in with a whimper. Ethnic jazz A3, with its deep resonance of shadowy flute, is also a must-hear. Highly recommended.

A3: Prana
A4: Journey Withthin
B2: Waves Through The Mind
