Made In Japan Records (Japan) 1981

A split album released in 1981 as the first release for Made In Japan Records, an independent Japanese label specializing in progressive rock. side A contains three songs by Kanzeon, led by Aki Fukakusa, bassist of Far East Family Band, which debuted under the production of Klaus Schulze and made a name for itself overseas as Japan's first progressive rock band. side B contains a three-song suite by the Outer Limits, one of Japan's leading symphonic rock bands. The Outer Limits has a grandiose sound that is heavily influenced by European symphonic prog rock, but with a touch of Japanese sentimentality in key places. I would like to focus on the A-side, Kanzeon. This is a masterpiece of oriental psychedelia with a Japanese ritualistic orientation inherited from Far East Family Band and analog synthesizer sounds.
