This album by pianist Keiichi Shibata was released in 1985 as the first album on the Shi-Zen label, which has left behind numerous new age works by artists with a strong Japanese sentiment such as Kitaro and Sojiro, as well as jazz bassist Motohiko Hamase. While he has a background in classical music and jazz, Shibata is not restricted to any one genre, but relies solely on his own emotions to create beautiful, fleeting melodies that envelop the acoustic space, as if he were capturing a moment of nature's expression and transition, like a landscape photograph. It is a wonderful work.
