A superb 1973 album by American pianist Keith Jarrett, who had already made his name in his twenties with such historic masterpieces as Solo Concerts and The Köln Concert. Backed here by a quintet of trusted associates—Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, and Danny Johnson—Jarrett delivers a deeply satisfying set of spiritual post-bop very much of this period. Standout cuts include the title piece on A2 and B1, where his flowing piano lines weave beautifully through a percussive, Afro-tinged rhythm section. A major work from this remarkable phase of Jarrett’s career. This copy is the US quadraphonic pressing issued in 1974.
