A two-LPs solo piano album released in 1977 by American pianist Keith Jarrett, who made his name in his twenties with such historic masterpieces as 'Solo Concert' and 'Koln Concert'. The album contains four suites of three parts each, entitled 'Staitcase', 'Hourglass', 'Sundial' and 'Sand', each of which could have been released as a stand-alone album. It is a contemporary piano work that no longer completely transcends jazz categorisation. All the tracks were recorded at Davout Studio in Paris in 1976, but they sound somewhat different from Jarrett's other works. I think he used a Stanway & Sons grand piano, but the tone also sounds a little different, perhaps due to the reverb effect of the studio.
