This is the 1983 album by Keith Jarrett, an unquestionably iconic pianist and a representative figure for ECM. In this release, Jarrett, accompanied by his most trusted colleagues, Gary Peacock on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums, performs standard numbers in a trio setting. However, the result is a complete foray into new musical territory. Fresh melodies are spun out as if they were Jarrett's original compositions, supported by exceptional performances from Peacock and DeJohnette. Jarrett's humming, almost as if crafting the melodies, is perfectly audible. Highly recommended.
