Kenny Dorham, one of the leading trumpeters of the bop era, emerged from the early 50s and played in groups such as Lionel Hampton, Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie, as well as being a member of the Jazz Messengers. Ths album was released in 1960. Quartet with Tommy Flanagan (p), Paul Chambers (b) and Art Taylor (ds). This is a masterpiece, with quality performances throughout, including the speedy A1, which opens with a seven-beat, shifting beat, and the laid-back, grooving blues-jazz A3 /B1. This is a US reissue in 1986 on the Original Jazz Classics series.
