Kenny Wheeler is a Canadian trumpet player who has released several albums for ECM including "Deer Wan", "Gnu High" and "Azimuth". The album features a quintet including Dave Holland (b), Jack Dejohnette (ds), John Taylor (p) and Michael Brecker (ts). From straight-ahead cool post-bop/modal jazz to vibrant contemporary jazz and floating urban tunes, the sound is fresh and clear, as is typical of ECM, and the balance is very pleasing.
