The Greek composer/pianist Kyriakos Sfetsas, who studied with Xenakis and Luigi Nono, gave his first concert in 1968 and has since given many famous compositions, released two albums in 1985 containing compositions from the early to mid-1980s. "Cactus Light" is a solo piano suite that spans sides A to C and is performed by Meropi Kollarou. Lyrical soundscapes depicting the changing of the seasons and natural scenes are very impressive. "Double Image", a duet for violin and piano, is another excellent piece that transcends the boundaries of contemporary music and is purely musical. The whole album is highly recommended.
