A 1982 first album by German female chorus group Lapislazulli, whose second album was featured in the first edition fo the guidebook Obscure Sound. The album features pianist Matthias Frey on synthesizer—known for many outstanding works rich in ethnic flavor—alongside his longtime collaborator Wolfgang Tiepold on cello and others.
Highlights include B4, an organic cover of Roberta Flack’s classic “Killing Me Softly,” arranged simply with acoustic guitar, percussion, and chorus, as well as B7, a psychedelic take on Paul Desmond’s jazz standard “Take Five.” A wonderful sweet folk album where beautifully layered chorus work creates a folkloric atmosphere, while the refined playing of jazz musicians adds depth and sophistication.
