An album released in 1988 by Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, a globally renowned Bulgarian traditional music project founded by Swiss producer Marcel Cellier, who is also known as a musicologist and organist. The album was released through the UK independent label 4AD. There is an anecdote that Peter Murphy introduced the music of Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares to Ivo Watts-Russell, the founder of 4AD, which led to the release of this work. Featuring layers upon layers of female vocals enriched with overtone elements, achieved through unique vocal techniques, the album presents an indescribably beautiful ensemble that feels as though it leads you to the heavens. This is timeless, extraordinary music. Highly recommended.
