This is the first duo album released in 1980 by Lee Konitz, an American saxophonist who was active at the forefront from the early 1950s to the 2000s, and Karl Berger, a German pianist/vibraphonist who emerged on the free jazz scene in the mid-1960s and made his presence felt with Don Cherry's works. It has been 12 years since the release of "The Lee Konitz Duets" in 1968, and the duo plays pleasant melodies and sounds in a calm atmosphere from start to finish, with saxophone solos and piano/vibraphone solos by each of them. Konitz's clear-toned saxophone is a nice touch, but Berger's piano, which spins out phrases and solos without hesitation, is a real treat to the ears.
