Formed in 1962 in Strasbourg, a city facing the Rhine River in northeastern France, Les Percussions de Strasbourg has been active for 60 years. This album, released in 1969, features numerous acclaimed recordings adorned with striking black typography on silver print jackets. This particular version is the Japanese edition with a different jacket released in 1974. It includes Kazimierz Serocki's "Continuum," where delicate percussion sounds scatter throughout the auditory space, Valentin Silvestrov's "Mysteres," featuring the ethereal sounds of alto flute, gongs, and cymbals, and Michel Puig's "Provisoires Agglomerats," with tape edits by Luc Perini from the French National Broadcasting Corporation's exploration studio. Needless to say, it's an outstanding piece of work.
