Released in 1971, this was the sole album by Light of Darkness, a rock band formed by members of the 1960s Scottish beat group The Tremors together with a German drummer. This edition is a limited 1990 reissue released by the German label Second Battle. An extremely obscure slice of blues psychedelia, the album is driven by thick, heavy fuzz guitar reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix, a percussive and wildly energetic rhythm section, and distinctive raspy vocals. The repeated use of simple guitar riffs and the sheer density of the sound make for a particularly hypnotic experience. Some tracks also carry a distinctly Black Sabbath-like atmosphere.
