Funky Donkey Vol. 1
Creative Conciousness Records (US) 1977
CC-1001T (LP) Original pressing.
sleeve : VG+(light dirts.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly surface noises caused by slightly wear and hairlines.)

This album was released in 1977 by the Human Arts Ensemble, a group featuring saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist Luther Thomas, who founded the Black Artists Group in St. Louis, USA, in 1968. The group includes Lester Bowie, Charles Bobo, J.D. Parran, and Joseph Bowie, all members of the same organization. Recorded live at Berea Presbyterian Church Lacled Towne. In addition to the above musicians, the Saint Louis Creative Ensemble, featuring Abdella Ya Kum, Eric Foreman, Hoyd Le Hore, Harold Pudgay Atterbury, and Rocky Washington, also participated. The horn section blows hot and freaky with a strong funk beat in the background, and the performance is a fusion of free jazz and funk that is the essence of Luther Thomas. Highly recommended.
