The first and finest album by the Argentine group M.I.A., led by composer/keyboardist Lito Vitale and his wife Liliana Vitale, originally released in 1976. The lineup also features guitarist Daniel Curto (who would go on to record an outstanding solo work in 1983), bassist Nono Belvis, and keyboardist Juan del Barrio, known for his work with Miguel Abuelo’s Los Abuelos De La Nada and Spinetta Jade. The album blends Lito Vitale’s modern classical sensibility with symphonic arrangements, unfolding into swirling, psychedelic progressive rock passages, while also offering deeply nostalgic acoustic ensembles infused with the folkloric fragrance of Argentine acid folk. The sound of Lito’s ARP Odyssey throughout is absolutely mind-blowing. And the 20-plus-minute suite that fills the entirety of Side B stands as a breathtaking epic. Very highly recommended. This copy is the 1984 Argentine reissue.
