Magical Power Mako
Welcome to the Earth
East World (Japan) 1981
WTP-90099 (LP) w/obi.
sleeve : EX+(light wear on one corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)
An album released in 1981 by Magical Power Mako, who had already begun to reveal his extraordinary talent at a young age—composing music for an NHK documentary at just 16 in 1972, deepening ties with leading Japanese figures such as Keiji Haino, Tōru Takemitsu, and Ryohei Hirose, taking part in a wide range of recording projects, and producing experimental home recordings built around tape collage techniques. Highlights include A3, marked by the cheap, distinctive sound of a Korg synthesizer combined with Asian-inflected scales and voicings reminiscent of kecak, and B3, whose Italo-disco–linked running bass line and awkwardly plain vocals create an air of mystery. Altogether, this is a masterpiece of electronic music that was strikingly ahead of its time in the context of Japan in that era.
A1: Welcome to the Earth (Intro)
A3: East World . . I Love You
