Original soundtrack album to the 1980 documentary film Elephant Story, which follows the lives of wild animals on the African savanna. The score was composed by Makoto Kawaguchi, while the two theme songs were written by the husband-and-wife team Ryudo Uzaki and Yoko Aki, and sung by Naomi Chiaki. One of these, African Night, is a groovy boogie-disco tune performed by the rock band Shogun, infused with an exotic African vibe—absolutely fantastic. The slow groove on B3 is also superb. A very rare entry in Naomi Chiaki’s discography. A 7-inch single of the theme songs also exists, but due to an inexplicable decision by CBS/Sony, the vocals were replaced with Jun Mayuzumi instead of Chiaki—so be careful when purchasing. Comes with the original theatrical pamphlet.

A6: アフリカのテーマ 風の大地の子守り唄
B3: アフリカン・ナイト
