This is a 1965 album by American pianist Mal Waldron, who has been at the forefront for nearly 50 years, from the 1950s to the early 2000s, and whose astonishing jazz-rock album 'The Call', the first release on the Japo label, is popular in our shop. Recorded in New York in 1963 with George Tucker (b) and Al Dreares (per) as part of The American Festival of Negro Arts (A.F.N.A.), an organisation dedicated to the promotion of Black American arts. All songs are performed from original scores by Waldron, and the entire album is a wonderful performance with a deep lyricism hidden within a quiet appearance. This is a limited reissue Japanese edition released in 1985 on King Records' <Freedom Jazz Series>.
