This is an album released in 1989, featuring Mal Waldron, a pianist, and Marion Brown, a saxophonist, who have been at the forefront of music for nearly 50 years from the 1950's to the early 2000's. The album was recorded at a studio in Hyères, France, in 1988, when Waldron was 63 years old and Brown was 57 years old, and had reached the level of a legend. Waldron's original compositions are moving, with emotional exchanges from the beginning, followed by a slow and deliberate performance of standard numbers and Charlie Parker's scores, all played in a smoky silver tone full of emotion. This is a piece that will be listened to for a long time beyond its time.
