This is a 1981 album by the popular American pianist Mal Waldron, who enjoyed a prominent career spanning almost five decades from the 1950s to the early 2000s. The album, titled "The Call," is a stunning jazz-rock release that marked the first work on the Japo label and gained popularity in our store. Recorded in 1981 at RCA Studio in New York with the trio consisting of George Mraz (b) and Al Foster (ds), this Japanese exclusive edition captures the astonishing musical performance. Featuring jazz standards like Cole Porter's "Love for Sale," George Gershwin's "Summertime," Earl K. Brent's "Angel Eyes," Johnny Mercer's "Autumn Leaves," and more, the album showcases Waldron's relaxed piano style during his mature period. It's an excellent piece that allows listeners to enjoy Waldron's mastery in a laid-back setting.
